Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) will join hundreds of smallholders for a two-day celebration of pigs, pork and all aspects of country life at the Spring Festival in Llanelwedd next weekend.

As well as being proud sponsors of the event, HCC will also be in attendance with a stand in the pig section which boasts one of the highest totals for exhibits.

A range of HCC publications surrounding the red meat sector in Wales will be free to collect, as well as information and the latest updates on the "Porc.Wales" website.

With a growing innovative pork industry in Wales, Porc.Wales is a catalogue of the finest pig farmers and premier porcine producers from around the country and includes a directory of regional stockists.

Other features include recipes, a blog, information on pork cuts and health and nutrition, as well as interviews with Porc.Wales ambassadors who describe why pork produced in Wales is so special.

Melanie Hughes, HCC’s Market Development Officer said: "We believe that pork produced in Wales stands out for many reasons; the climate and the landscape, not to mention the expertise and knowledge of the pig farmers.

"The sector is innovative and has a new generation of passionate artisan producers who make award-winning products.

"We look forward to meeting up with many of these producers who will be showcasing their supreme stock during the Spring Festival."

HCC is also working in conjunction with Farming Connect to deliver practical pig husbandry demonstrations with the British Pig Association and the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS).

These sessions are free to attend and will be an interesting source of information for anyone keen to learn about rearing pigs.

Held in the pig section, the daily demonstrations will be conducted by renowned vet and pig specialist, Bob Stevenson.
