Quality Meat Scotland and Robert Wiseman Dairies team up with Tesco for Enjoy the Taste of Scotland

Ahead of Scotland’s biggest and best FREE consumer food and drink event, ’Enjoy the Taste Scotland’, Tesco has announced that Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) and Robert Wiseman Dairies will sponsor next weekend’s event at George Square (28th and 29th May 2011).

Angus Bell, Local Buying Manager for Tesco in Scotland said: ’We are delighted that QMS has returned for a second year following the success of last year’s roadshow and welcome Robert Wiseman Dairies onboard as main sponsor for ’The Family Zone.

The event will provide local and regional producers with an opportunity to showcase their products to thousands of visitors, who will be able to try and buy direct from the producers.’

Suzie Carlow, Marketing Controller for QMS, said: ’The Enjoy the Taste of Scotland event is a good opportunity to improve consumers’ understanding of the quality, welfare and traceability behind the Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork brands, and encourage shoppers to look for these labels as a sign of quality products with provenance and production guarantees.

Richard Jones, Tesco Account Director for Robert Wiseman Dairies said: ’The Interactive Family Area at the Enjoy the Taste of Scotland event will allow us to communicate with the children and adults alike and help them understand the supply chain that brings fresh milk from Scottish farms all the way to our homes on a daily basis - highlighting to consumers where Tesco milk comes from and processes and care involved in providing them with a quality product."

’Milk from Tesco Stores in Scotland is sourced from a dedicated group of Scottish farmers, who are rewarded with a price which is guaranteed to cover the average cost of production, as well as being supported with advice on welfare and environmental best practises, all of which help to ensure that the milk in Tesco stores is the best ever.’

There will be three main areas at the event on Saturday 28th May, open from 10.00am ’ 5.00pm and Sunday 29th May, open from 10.30am -5.00pm:

’ The Tesco Fair - Visitors to the event will be able to take a culinary tour through a series of regional marquees, browsing delicious food stalls representing the best of Scottish produce, meeting enthusiastic producers, company owners and sampling local food and drink from all over Scotland.

’ The Tesco Cookery Theatre - Glasgow’s Restaurant Association will host cookery demos from numerous Scottish chefs and well-known food and drink personalities.

’ Family Zone - sponsored by Robert Wiseman Dairies, will provide fun for all, including facepainting, balloon modelling and a range of games for kids of all ages
