Records broken at Stone collective auction

Auctioneers Halls’ March collective machinery auction at The Gallops, Stanklyn Lane, Stone, near Kidderminster was a record breaker.

A record number of lots attracted the best ever attendance with around 2,000 lots entered into the auction.

The majority of the lots came from local farms where they had worked for all or at least most of their lives, including two tractors from the same farm, which fetched the top two prices of the day - ’6,500 for the Ford 7610 tractor and ’3,700 for the Ford 6610 tractor. Other prices in the tractor section included ’2,700 for a David Brown 880 with Quickie Loader.

There were more than 20 vehicles and 30 trailers entered, with the top price going to a reconditioned E-reg convertible Mini, which made ’2,300, closely followed by a Vauxhall Corsa Van at ’1,900, a Nissan Navara at ’1,800 and a Rover 75 at ’1,180.

Prices in the trailer section were dominated by Ifor Williams models. A 12 foot DP120 livestock trailer with decks and partitions achieved the top price of ’2,100, a cage sided twin axle trailer made ’2,000, a 14 foot flatbed trailer made ’1,150 and a twin axle stock trailer made ’1,100.

Also included in the trailer section was a speedboat on its trailer and a number of horse carts.

The farm implements section again had a large number of entries, with the top price of ’2,900 going to a Chillton loader with bucket, bale spike, brackets and other accessories. Other notable sales in this section included a set of five metre tine grass harrows at ’1,500, a Vicon Varispreader at ’950, a GI Cattle feed trailer at ’780 and a Kuhn Power Harrow made ’700.

With the unseasonably warm weather and spring seemingly in full swing, the garden machinery section saw a number of useful lots, including an ISEKI SF300 Professional rotary mower at ’2,250. A Toro Wheelhorse 270HE 52-inch cut tractor made ’780, a Countax ride-on mower made ’400 and a Lawn Flite ride-on mower made ’290.

The day finished with the unentered section, which comprised around 500 lots.
