The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society last week saw itself recognised as one of the top businesses in Wales.
At the very first Wales Business and Education Partnership Awards, held last week at the prestigious Cardiff City Hall, the society learnt with great pride and respect that it had been shortlisted for an award in the Economic Impact category.
The ceremony, organised by Wales Business Insider, was a celebration of companies, universities and colleges working together, adding value and helping to boost the Welsh economy.
Recognition of its business attributes and the effect the society has on the local and wider economy in Wales is something the board of directors and new management team at the head office in Llanelwedd has been keen to promote.
“For many, when they refer to the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society they simply think of the four-day show in July. Of course, our events are legendary and have a place in many people’s hearts and lives across Wales and further afield. But we are so much more than that.” explains Steve Hughson, Chief Executive of the society.
“The society has played a leading role in the development of agriculture and a vibrant rural economy in Wales for over a century since its formation in 1904. Today our work includes providing support for business, social welfare and education in rural communities, alongside the organisation and staging of our ever-popular events. In addition it is estimated that the society contributes around £50 million to the economy of Wales each year.”
