Seven Brackenhurst students receive Educational Grants
Seven students from Brackenhurst College will be presented with certificates to acknowledge receipt of Educational Grants, totalling over £5,000, at this year’s Newark & Nottinghamshire County Show.
The students, aged between 16 and 25, are all on agricultural study courses at the college which is based near Southwell, Nottinghamshire.
Presentation of the certificates will be made by the 2011 Show President, Tony Strawson, in the Main Arena on Sunday afternoon (15 May).
Educational Grants are awarded from a bursary managed by the Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society.
The scheme, which was formally set up in 2007, enables students to fund additional training or purchase equipment vital to their studies.
Students from across the UK are invited to apply for an Educational Grant; the main proviso is that they must normally live in Nottinghamshire and/or plan to pursue an agricultural or associated industry business career in the county.
Following a hand written application, short-listed students are interviewed by a panel of judges who then offer a discretionary grant.

Joanne Fothergill (17) from Rainworth near Mansfield - £570.00
Rowan Alder (19) from Chesterfield, Derbyshire - £905.00
