Shrewsbury machinery auction attracts New Zealand and European buyers

Buyers from as far away as New Zealand added to the competitive bidding at auctioneers Halls’ successful bi-monthly plant and agricultural machinery auction at Shrewsbury Auction Centre on Friday.

The successful Kiwi buyer bought a Red Rock 14 tonne dump truck for £4,000 as Halls reported its highest number of registered online bidders using the i-bidder.com live auction platform. Other international buyers were from Poland, France, Scotland and Ireland.

The day’s top prices were: £12,000 for an Amazon three metre disc drill with power harrow from a Staffordshire farm, £7,500 for a Massey Ferguson 398 4wd tractor, £6,200 and £5,000 for Manitou loadalls, £5,300 for a Strautman rear discharge manure spreader, £3,900 for a Kuhn three metre combi drill and £3,750 for a Marshall 11 tonne silage trailer.

“We are now beginning to reap the benefits of live online bidding as we had more bidders than ever registered for the auction,” said Nick Hyne, Halls’ manager of Shrewsbury Auction Centre. “We are the market leaders locally for online bidding at auctions.

“It’s evident that buyers are now looking further afield for good quality second hand machinery due to the slight downturn in livestock and cereal prices. It was very noticeable that good quality, genuine machinery straight off the farm was commanding a premium price.”
