It was a record breaking Spring Lambing Day, with around 4,000 visitors making their way to WNSC’s Walford Campus. The sunshine helped make the event extra special, it felt like a summer’s day it was so lovely and warm. The lambs were obviously the main draw, there were 8 born on the day and some visitors even witnessed their entry into the world!

There was a plethora of stalls and activities all over the Campus such as Superzorbs, Whitchurch Dog Display Team, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, Archery, Robot Milking Display, Face Painting, Treasure Hunt etc. Extremely popular as ever was the Animal Care Centre, visitors crowded around the meerkat enclosure, the exotics room and even saw the College’s many Birds of Prey. The displays from the British Horseball Association were very popular and well attended at the College’s indoor Equine Arena.

Principal Jackie Doodson commented ‘The Walford Spring Lambing Day is a great opportunity for the College to engage with our community; so I was delighted to see so many local families enjoying the excellent facilities we have to offer at our Walford Campus. Attendance was at record levels this year with around 4000 people through the gates. The staff and students worked hard to ensure everyone had a great time and they did the College proud.’

The College operated its popular park and ride again this year from Corbet School in Baschurch, the park and ride was introduced at Spring Lambing Day 2014 and has again worked very well, the College would like to thank Corbet School for their help with such a busy event.
