Suffolk sprayer operator, Jonathan Cross, has won a prestigious Syngenta Farm Sprayer Operator of the Year Award 2016.

Working for Wantisden Hall Farms, Woodbridge, near Ipswich, Jonathan demonstrated his high levels of skills and practical knowledge of safe and effective spraying techniques.

Working across 1200-hectares of arable and vegetable cropping, protecting water quality and the environment is paramount with every operation.

Jonathan has continued to enhance his skills by regularly attending NRoSO training courses and application workshops.

He was praised for his developing new tools and utilising new nozzle technologies to improve the accuracy and consistency of results.

Presenting the Awards at the International Sprays & Sprayers Event, Syngenta Application Specialist, James Thomas, said: "The FSOOTY Awards judge all aspects of farm spraying to identify the top operators across the UK – and Jonathan has proven to be the very best of them all.

"Jonathan has shown outstanding skills and works to very high standards to achieve the best possible results.

"He has proved a worthy winner by demonstrating that best practice can deliver efficient, cost effective and, above all, safe crop spraying.

"Syngenta recognises that the skills of the sprayer operator are paramount in achieving the full potential from all our crop protection products," he added.
