Supply chain alignment at Fruit Logistica 2015

At an event described as a “leading platform for innovation for the international fresh produce trade," by its organiser, Dr Christian Göke. Muddy Boots recognised that this was not only reflected in the physical set-up of Fruit Logistica, but also in the attitudes of the visitors they had to their stand.

Muddy Boots Software gives its customers total visibility of the quality of their products and compliance of their supply chains, from grower to retailer. All quality and compliance data is gathered on a single online platform, providing a thorough and comprehensive overview of supply chain performance.

“Fruit Logistica is an excellent platform for us to demonstrate the full breadth of our offer; there aren’t really any other food industry events that allow us to do this,” comments Jack Evans, Head of Sales at Muddy Boots Software. “A few years ago when we started looking at grower to retailer solutions, the industry wasn’t really ready for it – agricultural businesses wanted to talk to us about our grower management software, and retailers wanted to talk to us about quality management solutions. But there’s now a real drive for end-to-end visibility and that was reflected at the show.”

He adds that growers and suppliers were really starting to understand and appreciate the retailer’s take on quality and the requirements that in turn fall on them. “Visitors to our stand wanted to discuss the true meaning of quality,” says Jack. “There was a maturity of understanding in this respect and recognition that quality extends beyond the physical look of the produce.

“When we talk about quality assurance, we’re referring to the quality of the product, and the compliance of the people and the production processes involved. By harnessing cloud-based solutions, all members of a supply chain can connect and collaborate online, so everyone has visibility of what’s going on at every stage of the supply network, and any areas of risk and waste can be identified early on and mitigated. As far as we know, we’re the only software provider offering this level of supply chain insight, from grower to retailer,” comments Jack.

This was recognised by visitors to the stand, including Steve McVicker’s Managing Director of Capespan.

“Muddy Boots are recognised as the leading industry platform, increasingly becoming the first choice for leading players in the food industry,” says Steve.

“Their software has improved Capespan’s QA processes and promotes result sharing with both customer and grower. Getting easy access and transparency of quality and compliance data up and down the chain was an essential element in strengthening supply relationships. Muddy Boots analysis has also improved our understanding of quality issues and develop sourcing and quality management practises with all stakeholders in the supply chain. ”
