Two blocks of Shropshire land for sale at March auction

Two blocks of agricultural land in Shropshire will be going under the hammer at a public auction in Shrewsbury on March 19.

The 3pm auction, conducted by auctioneers Halls at the company’s Battlefield headquarters, will feature 15.24 acres of arable land at Soulton Road, Wem and 8.38 acres of pastureland with 400 metres of fishing rights on the River Sever at Montford Bridge, near Shrewsbury.

The land at Wem, which has a guide price of £130,000 to £150,000, is just over half a mile from the town and is of sandy/medium loam type soil. Potatoes were grown on the land last year.

The land at Montford Bridge, which has a guide price of £60,000, has roadside access and includes a timber framed building with an adjacent concreted area. The building has potential to be converted into stables, subject to planning consent.

Shaun Jones, a rural professional director at Halls, says the land is ideal for equestrian use as it has access to the local bridleway network, which leads through pleasant countryside to Bicton. The fishing rights have been let for the past 30 years to Warrington Anglers Association.
