Two charities benefit from farmers’ fundraising

Two thousand pounds has been split and donated to two Welsh charities thanks to NFU Cymru members in Glamorgan.

Representatives from The Stroke Association Wales and Felindre Hospital were both presented with a £1,000 cheque at the recent Glamorgan NFU Cymru County Conference.

On presenting the cheques Andrew Oliver, Glamorgan NFU Cymru County Chairman said, "On behalf of Glamorgan NFU Cymru I am privileged to be able to present these cheques to two worthwhile causes and a special thank you must go to all NFU Cymru members and staff in Glamorgan who have over the past 12 months organised and taken part in many events, including a golf day and a NFU Cymru county luncheon."

Both charities were extremely grateful of the donations and on receiving the cheque on behalf of The Stroke Association Wales, Bridget Stadden the Fundraising Manager for Wales said, "The Stroke Association is delighted to receive a cheque for such a substantial amount of money from Glamorgan NFU Cymru members.

"Not only will fundraising efforts such as this enable us to continue with our work with stroke clients and their families across the region but working with the Union offered us the opportunity to raise the profile of stroke and promote key messages around prevention that are crucial in reducing the incident of stroke. Working with NFU Cymru at the Vale of Glamorgan County Show, testing show-goers blood pressure also enabled us to bring attention to one of the biggest causes of stroke."
