Two day sale at Carlisle records calf price increases
A top prize of £4500 was secured by the Trafford family, of Bassenthwaite Hall Farm, Keswick at the Harrison and Hetherington two day suckled calf show at Carlisle last weekend.
Both days saw many quality runs of cattle, with buyers drawn from Oban in the north to Devon in the south. The sale averages rose on both days.
On the first day, an entry of 1250 heifers was presented and the sale average rose almost £60 on the year to level at £777.78, whilst on the second day 1360 steers averaged £826.12, a rise of £105.
