Visitors welcome for Open Farm Sunday

NFU Cymru members are throwing open their farm gates next month as they join this year’s Open Farm Sunday founded by LEAF.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the farming events taking place across the country on Sunday, 7 June 2015, thanks to the success of Open Farm Sunday, which is now in its tenth year.

NFU Cymru President Stephen James said, “It is great to see Open Farm Sunday now starting to establish itself in Wales with the most farms I’ve ever seen taking part. The event is a fantastic opportunity for us to demonstrate how we manage the countryside to produce, wholesome, affordable, food and to create a beautiful, bio-diverse environment.

“The NFU acknowledges the great work LEAF has done to bring this event to life and we are more than happy to add our support. It is good to see NFU Cymru members getting involved. Farmers aren't the most natural show-offs but we have a great story to tell and a great setting to tell it in.

“Open Farm Sunday offers everyone the chance to meet a farmer and find out more about how their food is produced. You’ll be very welcome at any of the open farms on the 7 June 2015. ”
