Water mains renewal scheme could impact on land and property owners

A multi-million pound water mains renewal pipeline planned between Llanfair Caereinon and Foel in north Powys could affect land and property owners along the route.

Severn Trent Water is currently issuing formal land entry notices to landowners along the proposed seven mile pipeline which will replace the older mains pipe, linking to a new pumping station at Foel.

Land and property owners along the route could be entitled to compensation if the new pipeline enters or passes through their land during and after construction work.

“Severn Trent Water are currently contacting landowners along the route of the new pipeline to access their sites for surveying and other work and to discuss the proposal with them,” said Keith Davies, a partner at Mid Wales and Shropshire property surveyors and land agents, Morris, Marshall and Poole.

“We’re already acting for a number of clients who will be affected by this new pipeline by assiting and negotiating compensation for any damages that might be caused and we’d urge anyone else along the route to seek professional advice.”

He added: “The work required to lay the pipeline is likely to cause disturbance to land as well as passing through private property, so it’s important people are aware of the implications before they agree to anything.”
