Wolsingham Farm Shop backs CLA Campaign

Christopher and Jill Stephenson, owners of the newly opened farm shop and café at Bradley Burn near Wolsingham, are the latest to add their support to the CLA's Just Ask Campaign, which aims to encourage people to ask where their food comes from.

The farm shop is the latest venture for the Stephensons whose family have been farming on the site since 1939, and is a logical diversification for the enterprising couple. Based in an impressive energy-efficient pine building, the shop offers local suppliers the opportunity to showcase their produce, and the emphasis is very much on local food.

Jill Stephenson, who manages the shop, said: "There has been a noticeable increase in demand for local produce over the last couple of years, and as well as supplying our own produce, we try to sell only food grown or reared within a 60 mile radius, buying as much as possible from local farmers and food producers .

"I support the CLA's Just Ask campaign and love it when people ask us where our food comes from, as we have all the answers!

Angus Collingwood-Cameron, CLA Director North East added: "Shops like Bradley Burn set a wonderful example to the public, and should be encouraged. Our countryside is full of enterprise and it is a pleasure to hear that this particular venture has got off to such a flying start."
