New vegetable innovation on show at September Open
Specialist vegetable and salad crop growers will have the chance to see the latest agronomy options and actions in practice, at the second Syngenta and Yara Whole Crop Agronomy Vegetable Demonstration Site open day, to be held at the PGRO, near Peterborough, on Tuesday 7 September.
Crops of brassicas, leeks, onions, lettuce and other vegetables on the site are now looking at their best, reports Bruce McKenzie of Syngenta. "This Open Day will give the opportunity to see how some of the novel crop protection and nutrition programmes have performed this year, and an early insight into some of the new varieties and techniques that will be available for next season and into the future."
Building on the success of the June open day, the event will focus on key issues and interests raised by growers, including weed control, new variety innovations, targeted nutrition programmes, pest and disease management and application techniques.
The Open Day will include demonstrations of:
• Varieties trials of broccoli; Brussels sprouts; bulb onions; cabbage; cauliflower; leeks & lettuce
• Crop agronomy programmes
• Vegetable crop application best practice
• Specialist crop nutrient programmes
• Plant tissue analysis techniques
• N-Sensor Technology and Airstream pneumatic application
• Garford’s Robocrop in-row weeder display
