Hardings Barn occupies an idyllic location just outside the rural village of Hartington, which is situated within the heart of the Peak District National Park.
Hartington is a popular tourist’s destination and with two public houses, several tea rooms, a variety of shops and a post office it provides a perfect base for those visiting the area. Biggin Hall, a local Derbyshire hotel is only located only 1 mile away and provides another local dining opportunity.
Located within close proximity to the property are superb walking opportunities over the hills along Dovedale, which spans the border between Derbyshire and Staffordshire. What is more the Tissington Trail which joins the High Peak Trail at Parsley Hay is accessible at the former Hartington Station. The trail is surrounded by beautiful countryside and ideal for horse riders, cyclists (bikes can be hired from Parsley Hay), naturalists and walkers alike. It is suitable for wheel chairs and pushchairs along the flat sections too.
There are also many other leading tourist attractions in the area including the Manifold Valley, Tittesworth Reservoir, The Roaches, Alton Towers, Carsington Water, Ilam Country Park and the numerous country houses including Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall.
Hardings Barn lies almost equidistant between the market town of Ashbourne to the south and the spa town of Buxton to the North. Bakewell, Leek and Matlock are also within easy reach all of which offer a range of shopping and leisure facilitates.
Communications are excellent with a good road network reaching the M1 and M6 which lie on the east and west of the Peak District respectively and the A50 dual carriageway which lies approximately 8 miles to the south of Ashbourne. Railway connections are available in Buxton, Matlock and Derby, whilst the
international airports of Manchester and East Midlands are within about 1 hours travelling time.
