Holywell is a small picturesque village, situated about half a mile south of Needingworth and 2.5 miles east of St Ives. Its name is derived from the holy water well located in front of the Parish Church, origins of which date back to AD 990.
The village, which has no through traffic, is home to the Ferry Boat Inn, a large public house/restaurant with conference rooms and bedrooms which lays claim, along with dozens in the UK, to being the oldest public house in the country.
More comprehensive facilities are available at the nearby market town of St Ives, or alternatively Huntingdon (about 8.5 miles) which also has a mainline railway station with services to London's King's Cross in about 50 minutes. There is a new guided bus service due to open in the near future which will run from Huntingdon to Cambridge.
