Barn fire kills horses, cattle, chickens in rural south Ottawa

A major fire in Ottawa’s rural south end has reignited after killing five cows, three horses and a “number of chickens” and destroying one barn, fire officials say.

Firefighters responded to 6255 Prince of Wales Dr. in the town of North Gower at 11:20 p.m. Saturday for a barn fire.

When they arrived, firefighters found a two-storey barn, measuring 30 metres by nine metres, used to house livestock. That barn was destroyed and a second barn that measures 18 metres by 12 metres also caught fire.
