Bovine viral disease discussion dominates global cattle congress

Combating poor cattle health and production losses as a result of the debilitating bovine viral disease, known as BVD, has dominated the agenda today at the World Buiatrics Congress in Cairns, far north Queensland.

Researchers, scientists and cattle veterinarians from 50 countries will have access to more than 360 expert presentations over five days at the World Buiatrics Congress that's been described as the 'Olympic Games' for those involved in the study of cattle.

Dr Enoch Bergman has pioneered ear notch testing in Australia for the diagnosis of animals Persistently Infected (PI) with BVD.
