Budget cuts for Queensland Agriculture Department

Around $2 million has been cut from the budget of Queensland's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and there may be more to come.

The LNP Government says it's acting to deal with state debt levels which a Commission of Audit Interim report has indicated will hit $100 billion by 2018.

Agriculture Minister John McVeigh says that, even though the sector is one of the state government's four pillars of the economy, his department is not immune.
