Farmers asked to boost fruit quality
The central government’s policy to halt the importation of several varieties of fruit and vegetables would be a “challenge” for local farmers, who would have to produce higher quality crops, Bali branch chairman of the Indonesian Farmers Association (HKTI), Nyoman Suparta, said.
He said that whether or not they were ready, farmers needed to improve their potential by ensuring the quality, price and continuity of their produce, especially in supporting the island’s hospitality industry, which mostly used imported products.
