Farmers get €0.5bn early EU payments

Farmers are to get advance payments of half a billion euro worth of European subsidies starting next Tuesday.

Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney said early EU payments to 105,000 farmers will help offset the costs caused by this summer's bad weather.
