Farmers' newest chore: Fitting in exercise

For Darcy Maulsby, the demands of graduate school and work were beginning to take their toll. She was stressed out, gaining weight and her health had succumbed to the tasty lure of unhealthy convenience meals and junk food. By early 2010, the Lake City, Iowa, native watched the scale top out at 245 pounds.

Today, the 39-year-old vice president of the Calhoun County Farm Bureau has lost 85 pounds and shed five dress sizes. She's traded her addiction to fast food and soda for workout DVDs, hour-long swims in the nearby public pool, and 4-mile walks with her Red Heeler dog, Maggie.
