Farmers on the Somerset Levels encouraged to apply for grants

Farmers affected by flooding on the Somerset Levels are being urged to apply for government grants to restore their land before the £10m Government fund closes on June 27.

Ian Bell, director of the Addington Fund, which has been helping to co-ordinate the flood relief, said it is vitally important that farmers asked for help now.

He said: “There are very genuine farmers in real need, who are still reluctant to come and ask for help.
