Farmers threaten protest over tubewell connections

Farmers in Bathinda and Mansa have decided to start a protest if the power authorities fail to provide them tubewell connections immediately.

The farmers accused the state government of taking them for a ride by promising tube-well connections before the parliamentary elections, but now backtracking from the promise. Several farmers had deposited fee ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 80,000 for transformers, electricity poles and cable, but the power department is yet to provide connections.
