French beef output seen rising by Livestock Institute

Beef output in France, Europe’s biggest producer of the meat, is predicted to climb 2.8 percent this year after a dairy herd expansion in 2013 boosted availability, the country’s livestock institute said.

Slaughter production will rise to 1.48 million metric tons from 1.44 million tons, recovering from a 5 percent slump in 2013, the Paris-based Institut de l’Elevage wrote in an e-mailed report. Beef imports are expected to fall, while exports may climb in 2014, according to the institute.
