Illegal slaughterhouse raided in India, 6 cattle rescued
Animal rights activists and the city police found three men slaughtering cows and calves at a beef stall in Chromepet on Sunday. Though 28 animals were found at the stall, only six were rescued and no arrests were made. The police said they were gathering evidence to arrest the men.
Around 4am on Sunday, around 15 activists, from People for Cattle in India (PCI) and Blue Cross of India, along with the Chromepet police raided a beef stall. They walked into a blood splattered compound and found 30 carcasses. Forty cows were being readied for slaughter, activists said. Though the activists said there were 40 animals, the police claim there were only 28.
