Late surge in monsoon fails to improve drought situation

A late surge in monsoon has failed to improve the drought situation prevailing in some parts of the country. Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said on Wednesday that around a third of the country has received deficient rains leaving states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Rajasthan in a crisis.
