Milk production high despite drought

Milk production fell just 1.6 per cent during the year despite the season being shortened by drought.

The country's cows produced 1.66 billion kilograms of milksolids in the 2012-13 season, Livestock Improvement Corporation and DairyNZ annual figures show.

That meant dairy companies processed 18.9 billion litres of milk last season, down slightly from last year's record levels but above levels two years before.
