Northern cattle showing the effects of five hard years
Mortality rates in northern cattle herds are showing the effects of five years of extreme weather.
A study by Meat and Livestock Australia has linked weather events, the scaling down of the live export trade and a number of management practices, to an average mortality rate of 9 per cent across seven pastoral regions in the Northern Territory, Western Australia and Queensland's Gulf country.
