Rains leave crops worth lakhs of rupees damaged

Two days of incessant rains have left around 210 acres of farmland in Vellayani completely submerged leaving the farmers with loses worth lakhs of rupees. The electric post that supplied power to the pump house here had collapsed, thus making the draining of water that had accumulated a difficult task.

The power was restored and motor could be switched on only on Wednesday morning. But, by then, the damage was already done.
