UK faces 10 per cent shortfall in farmland by 2030

The UK faces an agricultural land shortfall of two million hectares within 15 years, according to a new report. The country may be unable to provide 10 per cent of the necessary farmland by 2030, the Cambridge Institute For Sustainability Leadership warns.

The report, called The Best Use of UK Agricultural Land, says that a shortfall in agricultural land could damage UK food security, leading to a heavier reliance on food imports.
