UN agencies seek ‘swift action’ against food crisis

The heads of the three United Nations (UN) food and agricultural agencies have called for swift international action to prevent repeat of world food crisis.

The call was contained in a joint statement by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation’s (FAO) Director-General, Jose Graziano da Silva, the UN World Food Programme’s (WEP) Executive Director, Ertharin Cousins, and the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Kanayo Nwanze.
