A unique and pioneering opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to co-ordinate the operational activities of three anaerobic digesters spaced within 45 minutes of each other in the counties of Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

The digester feedstock is maize grown for the purpose by a contractor who also supplies the operational staff.

The key responsibility will be to encourage best practice with the contracted operational staff and to report back to the owners on matters relating to efficiency, feedstock and performance measurements and matters of concern. This is not a line management role but more of a committed consultancy role to develop best practice whilst keeping the absent owners aware of important operational information.

The qualities of applicants to perform this role will be more important than the extent of their experience in the selection process. However arable and/or digester experience is desirable.

Required Experience and Skills:

- Qualified to a minimum of HND level in agriculture or closely related biological discipline

- Experience of arable farming, crop planting plans, crop management and ensiling preferred.

- Experience of, and a demonstrable interest in, anaerobic digestion and environmental issues is desirable; additional training can be provided.

- Some experience of mechanical (and electrically controlled) equipment is preferred

- The candidate should have the confidence and gravitas to be able to negotiate with and/or maintain working relationships with a variety of personnel, including biogas specialists, machinery and farm operatives, contractor manager and owners.

Competencies:

- Good interpersonal skills with gravitas and a natural ability to deal with, and work with, people at all levels
