Alan Wiseman receives dairy award

The inaugural Dairy UK Award was presented to Alan Wiseman at the Dairy UK Conference Dinner in recognition of his service to the industry over a 43 year long career.

Alan, who recently stepped down as Chairman of Robert Wiseman Dairies, began his dairy career in 1967, when he joined the family business straight from school. Just nine years later he took control of the company on his father’s retirement.

Over the course of his career, Alan transformed the business that still bears his father’s name. The focus was shifted from glass to Non Returnable Containers (NRCs), the Company was listed on the London Stock Exchange, and the business expanded south of the border, with state-of-the-art processing facilities in Manchester, Droitwich Spa and Bridgwater.

Robert Wiseman Dairies now supply almost a third of the UK’s fresh milk on a daily basis.

"Alan is a very worthy recipient of the inaugural Dairy UK Award," said Jim Begg, Dairy UK Director General. "His influence on the development of the liquid milk sector in the UK has been enormous. And yet, Alan has achieved all this whilst remaining true to the ethos of Robert Wiseman Senior, which he has instilled in his sons, which is get involved, get the job done, look after your workforce and always give quality of service to customers."

The award was made at the Dairy UK conference dinner held at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham.
