All the facts on tractors

Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire: All the facts about ten leading makes of tractor will be available from the Royal Show's "Tractor Village" - the innovative exhibit that enables farmers to discuss the merits of different makes with independent experts.

The Royal Show is being held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire from Sunday 29th June until Wednesday 2nd July.

This year's tractor village concentrates on tractors in the 100hp - 140hp power range, a size typically used on small/medium sized arable farms and many livestock units. All the tractors featured have been tested by Profi International and Farmers Weekly, whose test reports will be amongst the independent information available.

The exhibit proved an instant hit when launched last year, and this year will feature tractors from ten manufacturers - these being John Deere, McCormick, New Holland, Case, Massey Ferguson, Fendt, Renault, Valtra, Deutz, Landini and JCB.

Jimmy Birchmore, the RASE Executive co-ordinating the exhibit, says it gives farmers a unique chance to assess tractors and discuss their relative

merits:

"The written information presented to farmers comes from a number of sources, including the 'driving impressions' completed by the supporting magazines, or from the more thorough factual tests conducted by Silsoe or DLG.

"The staff on the stand are all mechanisation specialists from Silsoe Research Institute, and so will be able to interpret technical information and explain it in a farmer-friendly way. This is a unique combination of information and advice which will help farmers make better informed purchasing decisions".
