The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) has extended its highly popular National Taste of Game week into a fortnight-long event which will run from 6th – 20th November this year.

During the course of the fortnight, celebrity chef and BASC council member Mike Robinson will be involved in a major game tasting event at Borough Market in London. He is part-owner of The Harwood Arms in Fulham, which recently became the first London Gastro-pub to be awarded a Michelin star.

Mike Robinson said: "I am delighted that the event is becoming so big and so popular. "Everyone is loving game, the proof is in the fact that restaurants that serve game are getting busier and the public are eating more of it."

The events have been co-ordinated and publicised by BASC as part of its Game’s On initiative to highlight the benefits of game meat as a local, wild and nutritious food, while at the same time encouraging people to enjoy the great taste of game.

Simon Hamlyn, BASC’s Director of Operations, said: "Due to popular demand, we are delighted to be able to extend our National Taste of Game event this year.
"Last year there were more than 100 activities during the course of the week to promote game and many more are planned for this year.

"We will again be present at Borough Market in London with sponsors Chefs on Stage to explain how game makes its way from field to fork, how to prepare and cook game and to provide people with the opportunity to try a wide range of game including venison, pheasant, partridge, rabbit and duck."

Mr Hamlyn also congratulated Mike Robinson on the Harwood Arms’ Michelin Star.
He said: "Mike continues to head up our Game’s On campaign. He is a terrific advocate and he should be given a pat on the back for all he does to highlight the benefits of game meat. The Michelin Star is very well deserved."

BASC’s game marketing initiative, Game’s On, was launched in 2005 and has since created a website and distributed more than 150,000 recipe leaflets through a network of game fairs and game tasting events and through game dealers and their customers. The association has been actively promoting game as a healthy, sustainable and highly nutritious food source since the mid-1960s.
