Barenbrug's Sheppey Forage Maize combines quantity with quality



Barenbrug UK, the specialist seed breeders, have maintained their reputation for offering farmers exactly what they need with the launch of Sheppey, an astonishing high-performance early forage maize. It offers growers a high dry matter yield and can be used to create silage of considerable starch content and digestibility.



Bred specifically for UK conditions, Sheppey gives early maturity and uniformity. In NIAB trials,
the variety produced a typical yield of 105%, a dry matter content of 31.9% and a starch content
of 33.2%. These figures surpass significantly the performance of control varieties used in the tests. Sheppey has been nominated as the NIAB's first choice for both favourable and less favourable sites.

Sheppey retains a good colour throughout the growth cycle, and has strong disease resistance. Barenbrug UK regard this exciting variety as the ideal choice for producers seeking quantity as well as quality forage.
