Blue: The new colour in materials handling
An extended choice of Tier II-compliant engines with increased horsepower, faster hydraulic cycle times and improved hydraulic control options define the new line-up of LM-A telehandlers from New Holland.
With a maximum reach of 6m to 9m, and lift capacities from 2.9t to 3.3t, there¡¦s now a model to suit every situation, from small livestock farms to large arable units, contracting operations and straw merchanting.
¡§New Holland believes that materials handling is a core agricultural activity and is committed to continually improving and extending its offering in this sector,¡¨ says product marketing manager Chris Dearden.
¡§Thus, these new telehandlers line up alongside our new front loaders for the TS-A tractor and should now, in fact, be viewed as an integral part of New Holland¡¦s overall tractor range.
¡§The new blue livery is deliberately intended to be a bold statement that the new LM-A telehandler models are exclusively aimed at, and designed for, farming situations.¡¨
New Holland has always maintained that the rear-engine configuration of its telehandlers is the most appropriate for agricultural applications, giving optimum weight distribution and direct drive with minimum power losses, and contributing to their superior pushing power and climbing ability.
This layout also incorporates a mid-mounted pivot, which means that heavier loads can be placed further forward, and allows loading and tipping into high-sided trailers with no boom extension, thereby improving work rates and machine stability.
Better ground clearance, engine cooling and service access are additional benefits, with uncomplicated drive lines a further consequence of the rear-engine design.
A slightly lengthened chassis makes the unit even more stable, especially on the road, and further improves the counterweight balance.
Within the model line-up, the LM415A, LM425A and LM435A replace the former LM410, LM425 and LM430 respectively, while the nine-metre lift 95hp LM445A substitutes for the former LM640.
The LM425A, with its range-topping 3.3m load capacity is powered from a 110hp New Holland engine, while the LM415A and LM435A are each offered in 95hp and 110hp versions.
Again specifically designed for agricultural use, and from the same engine family as those powering New Holland¡¦s new TS-A tractors, the quiet new turbocharged 95hp and turbocharged and intercooled 110hp Tier II engines offer better fuel consumption and up to 42% more torque than their predecessors.
Power is converted into handling performance via a four-speed PowerShuttleTM transmission where a large torque converter ensures that high levels of torque are maintained as engine speed drops.
A four-forward and three-reverse speed PowerShiftTM transmission is an option on the LM435A 110hp model.
Oil flow has been increased by about 20% to 110 litre/minute across the range, with the benefit of significantly faster hydraulic cycle times.
Depending on model, hydraulic control is by way of a mechanical joystick with two levers, a mechanical ¡¥mono¡¦ joystick, or an electro-hydraulic proportional flow-sharing joystick. This allows more than one function to operate simultaneously and gives fingertip control of the speed of the main function ƒ{ ideal for precision stacking jobs and a ¡¥first¡¦ for New Holland telehandlers.
In each case, an option to the standard control package is offered, further extending the specification alternatives on what is New Holland¡¦s most comprehensive and impressive telehandler range.
