FAVOURABLE RESPONSE TO FARMING INCENTIVES.
The new government subsidies for the production of wheat, maize and rice, have been favorably received by the small farmers in rural communities of Bolivia.
President Eva Morales, a former coca farmer, has introduced the subsidy measures to the coca farmers, to try and get the nation self sufficient in food.
Bolivia is the words third largest producer of the coca plant, which is the base for cocaine, while much of this goes for medical use, there is also an illicit trade in drugs.
The United States, who only have 5pc of the worlds population, consume 70pc of the worlds illegal drugs.
