Celebrities back biggest-ever Organic Week



Organic Week 2003 - the largest celebration of organic food and drink - hits the UK on Saturday 4 October. The week is organised by the Soil Association, the leading promoter and certifier of organic food and farms and is sponsored by Doves Farm, Organix Brands and Highland Spring.

Organic Experience Weekend (Saturday 4 - Sunday 5 October), kick starts the week with dozens of organic farms across the country open to the public. Children and adults will be able to enjoy a range of activities including cookery demonstrations, guided walks, food tastings and tractor rides.

Chef Jamie Oliver who supports organic food said, "As a chef, organic food is something that I want to push and we try to be organic at home. It tastes better and it's better for you."

TV celebrity Michaela Strachan says, "Going organic is good for the environment, good for wildlife and good for you. And it tastes yummy too!"

Throughout October the Organic Taste Experience will visit shopping centres around the country where shoppers will be encouraged to taste free samples of organic food. Organised by Kettle Organic, Yeo Valley, Meridian Foods and Seeds of Change, the stand will stop at various locations in the South of England. In additions, promotions by supermarkets and local shops will give millions of shoppers around the country the opportunity to sample new organic food products and buy others on special offer.
