Australia-Chile FTA starts in March
27/02/2009
The Australia-Chile Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will come into force on 6 March 2009.
The agreement immediately removes Chile’s tariffs on almost 92% of tariff lines, covering 97% of goods currently traded with Australia. This includes the elimination of the 6% tariff previously applicable to livestock and red meat.
In 2008, Australia exported 9,831 tonnes swt of chilled beef to Chile.
