China-Government boost for Farmers.

CHINA.

GOVERNMENT TO DOUBLE FARMERS INCOMES.

The farmers who produce grain in rural China, have seen no benefits from the global rise in commodity prices.

The recent de-regulation of the old communist collective farms, has seen incomes for farmers generally move upward.

The new laws mean, that while the government still owns the land, the farmers have individual leases, that they can use as collateral for borrowing money.

The average city dweller in China, earns three times the income of the rural farmer. The government announced this week, that is was going to now double the income of small grain farmers, by doubling the price for wheat and rice paid to the farmers.

This is all part of the government drive to become self sufficient in food production.
