Dairy Farmers of Britain posts 3.6 million pounds loss
DAIRY Farmers of Britain has reported a loss of £3.6 million in the year ending March 2008.
The loss comes despite an operating profit of £4 million which saw investment returns to its farmer members reach in excess of £3 million.
Revenues were also up at £562 million, driven largely by recent increases in milk price and through the development of new contracts such as 'localchoice' milk for supermarket giant Tesco.
The figures are in line with the company's expectations after it embarked on a three-year plan which saw a widespread re-organisation across the group, costing almost £4 million in total.
