EBLEX appoints new board member
EBLEX has appointed Warwickshire farmer Adam Quinney to its board.
Adam, aged 47, brings a wealth of experience to the role, adding to the number of positions he has held including NFU local branch chair, member of the National Livestock Committee, the NFU Animal Health Working Group, and regional chairman for the West Midlands.
He is also a trustee of the Studley College Trust and was the first English ASDA beef scholar.
"EBLEX has a major role in developing and promoting the English livestock industry. I am passionate about the livestock industry and so wanted to be involved with EBLEX," said Adam, who farms 250 hectares of rented land, with suckler herds, bull beef, breeding ewes and 40 hectares of arable.
"I have a wide experience of knowledge transfer, including in other countries like America and France, and technical knowledge is one way for the industry to improve its returns, which is key to the prosperity of the sector.
"The challenges we face are wide-ranging, with issues like climate change and public perception, that are very broad and faced by livestock enterprises the world over. Domestically we also need to look at marketing our product: Is it good? Can it get better? Is it meeting customer requirements? Are prices sustainable? Are there other markets out there? It’s about us adding value to every part of the carcase.
"I am looking forward to my role on the EBLEX board and doing my bit to help make the livestock industry more efficient and profitable."
In his spare time Adam, who is married with three children, enjoys following motorsport.
Adam’s arrival brings the board up to its full complement of 15.
John Cross, EBLEX chairman, said: "We are delighted someone of Adam’s calibre has agreed to join us.
"He brings a wealth of experience in the livestock sector and his input will be invaluable."
