An Essex free-range chicken farm is getting ready to do battle with supermarket giant Tesco after the company ignored his requests to remove his family business photos from their packaging.
Norton Field Farm, near Brentwood has supplied Tesco with free-range eggs for about four years. However, in early June this year contract difficulties with the distributor meant the company was unable to carry on supplying eggs to Tesco; with massive financial implications for the farm.

Ian Chisholm, owner of Norton Field Farm Eggs says: 'It is a devastating blow for our family business to lose the contract with Tesco, through no fault of our own. To add insult to injury, our photo and personal details are still being displayed in-store on the Tesco egg boxes under the heading 'meet one of our producers – laid in Essex'. There is nothing we can do about the supply contract but we simply asked that the packaging with our photo and details on be removed from the shelves. We have been fighting this for weeks, but no-one has resolved our issue so we have no choice but to take the matter to court.'
The case will be heard at 2pm tomorrow (Tuesday 1 July 2008) at Harlow County Court, and the Chisholm family hope for a favourable outcome.
Mr Chisholm adds: 'We are a trusted local producer, and while this might not be a big deal for Tesco, the fact that we are being misrepresented is not something we are happy to accept without a fight'.
