Farmers celebrate their special relationship with cheshire community
A UNIQUE and special relationship has been built up between the people of Vale Royal in Cheshire and the farmers that produce food in their area.
Hundreds of people in the area now class their local farmer as a friend thanks to the Vale Royal Farmers' Market which takes place every third Saturday of every month, between 10am and 2pm, at Eddisbury Fruit Farm on Yeld Lane in Kelsall, Tarporley.
However, on Saturday 17 July the farmers want to give something back to the community which loyally supports them throughout the year.
In order to celebrate its 50th market, the Vale Royal Farmers' Market Association is holding a very special market which will boast face painting and a soap bomb making stall for the kids as well as a barbecue and barn dance for the grown ups.
Vale Royal Farmers' Market Association secretary and NFU member, Monica Haworth, 57, said: "Sometimes I simply cannot believe that we are about to embark on our 50th market. It has only been made possible thanks to the dedication of all the producers involved and the loyalty shown by the Vale Royal community.
"This market is different to all the rest because it is run by the farmers themselves. In an age where the supermarket is most definitely king I believe it is important that consumers are still given the opportunity to buy food that has been produced on their doorsteps.
"At Vale Royal Farmers' Market the customer can do just that and can also speak to the actual person who produces the food they eat. That is something I feel is well worth celebrating."
The National Farmers' Union praised Vale Royal Farmers' Market. Its regional director, Terry Abbott, said the market epitomised the hard work and dedication shown by all farmers in Cheshire.
So why not tickle your taste buds and head down to Vale Royal Farmers' Market on Saturday 17 July and see what culinary delights you can pick up. Whether you're a lover of ice cream, cheese, fish, vegetables, bedding plants, herbs, honey or meat you'll find it all at Vale Royal Farmers' Market.
