With dozens of farm family operations on the verge of collapse, the P.E.I. Federation of Agriculture is throwing out a big welcome mat to all Islanders to attend a public forum Thursday on the critical state of agriculture across the province.
While consumers are able to enjoy Canada's cheap food policy, small farm operations are taking a beating and a recent Statistics Canada survey says P.E.I. leads the nation in enduring the highest drop in farm cash receipts this year.

"We welcome all our neighbours and friends and those who don't understand the situation to attend," said John Colwill, president of the federation and a Tyne Valley area farmer.
