Farming sector targeted

The four municipalities of Mansfield Shire, Benalla Rural City, Murrindindi Shire and Strathbogie Shire have appointed Debra Shaddock as Rural Skills Connect project manager for the Southern Hume Region.

This initiative, funded by Regional Development Victoria, is aimed at addressing vital skills gaps in the Southern Hume Region by utilising the transferable skills of the ’on-farm’ sector and providers to this important industry.

Mansfield Shire Council Mayor, Cr Marg Attley, said on behalf of all the participating Shires, "Ms Shaddock’s focus over the twelve months of the project will be to assist farming families and agribusiness employees to identify and gain formal qualifications for existing skills and access employment opportunities across the region."
